There are a lot of myths about aging out there. For example, many people believe that the older you get, the more your health will naturally decline. Not true! Many people maintain healthy habits throughout adulthood, such as a healthy diet and regular exercise, and feel great in later age.
Another myth many people subscribe to is that the brain will deteriorate over time. False. While the brain does lose brain cells on a daily basis, it also produces new cells each day. The best way to maintain a healthy and active brain later in life is to learn something new, like a foreign language.
Your genetics have far less impact on your health than your attitude and activities. There is no reason you have to slow down – mentally or physically – just because it’s believed to “go with the territory”.
